Wireless Innovation Forum Announces Support of JTNC ICWG Approved SCA 4.1 Standard

Online, September 10, 2015 (Newswire.com) - WASHINGTON--In a statement to the JTNC Standards Interface Control Working Group (ICWG), the Wireless Innovation Forum indicated its support of approval by the ICWG of the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) 4.1 Standard. The ICWG voted to approve the Standard during its meeting on 19 August and the JTNC publicly announced the standard availability on 9 Sept (www.jtnc.mil/sca).

SCA 4.1 provides an architecture framework which facilitates the development of portable software defined radio application software. The revised specification captures the benefits of recent technology advances and is expected to greatly enhance interoperability of communication systems and reduce development and deployment costs.

The Forum's Coordinating Committee on International SCA Standards (CC SCA) has been working with the JTNC to develop technical recommendations and WInnF Standards for SCA 4.1 since November 2013. Following the release of the draft standard in February 2015 (groups.winnforum.org/d/do/7959) the CC SCA also adjudicated issues submitted by the general public and submitted subsequent recommendations.
